Forget Me Knot Socks

I have always adored the little forget-me-not flowers with their five tiny dainty petals. As a young girl, I was often found sitting and admiring them. These perennials are found around the world and symbolize true love, enduring memory and faithfulness. Many legends surround the origins of the forget-me-not and its name. One legend says that when the creator had finished giving out the colors to all the flowers, he heard a tiny whisper, “forget-me-not!” All he had left was a tiny bit of blue, which the little flower was delighted to wear. Inspired by these happy flowers that appear in the spring, these socks are perfect for wearing on a chilly spring morning. And forgive me for the play on words with knot. It is just a reminder to avoid any yarn knots in your socks! **Construction Notes** Knit from the top down with a pretty picot folded edge, this sock includes a simple flower colorwork pattern on the leg, followed by a simple, decorative “lice” pattern which continues until the toe. These socks are knit with a short row heel. **Sizing** 1 (2, 3) To fit (foot circumference): 7 (8½, 9½) inches / 17–19 (20.5–23, 23.5–25) cm **Yarn** Fingering weight, John Arbon Textiles Exmoor Sock 4ply (60% Exmoor Blueface, 20% Corriedale, 10% Zwartbles, 10% Nylon), 218 yds (200 m) per 50-g skein. Shown in **MC:** Mizzle (2 skeins) **CC1:** Whortleberries (1 skein) **CC2:** Drumble (1 skein) Any fingering weight sock yarn can be used for this sock pattern as long as you can obtain the same gauge. **Needles** **For picot folded cuff and stockinette:** US 1 (2.25 mm), 32-inch (80-cm) circular for magic loop, or DPNs, or two circulars or a 9-inch (23-cm) circular needle (as preferred). **For colorwork:** US 1.5 (2.5 mm), 32-inch (80-cm) circular for magic loop, or DPNs, or two circulars or a 9-inch (23-cm) circular needle (as preferred). **GAUGE** 34 sts x 36 rnds = 4 inches (10 cm) for colorwork. 36 sts x 42 rnds = 4 inches (10 cm) for ribbing.
