Linen Oval Placemats

This pattern is for a simple linen stitch crochet placemat with worsted weight cotton. It is relaxing and quick to work, and lies perfectly flat after blocking. Gauge is not important since it is worked in the round; keep going until the placemat is the size you want. You will need the larger size ball of Lily Sugar & Cream or Dishie cotton (190 yards) plus an optional smaller one for a contrasting colour edging. All of the photos are worked in Lily Sugar and Cream, which takes advantage of the stiffness this yarn tends to have. However, any craft cotton in worsted weight should work.
