Mrs. Weasley's Home-Knit Christmas Sweaters

Some of the most iconic costumes from the Harry Potter films, Mrs. Weasley’s knitted sweaters first appear in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone. Mrs. Weasley, a prolific knitter and family-oriented witch, makes one for each of her children as a Christmas gift. She also makes one for Ron’s new best friend, Harry. Ron grumbles, but Harry, who never gets presents, accepts it with delight. A Weasley sweater can be a warm gift, a clever costume, or a fashion statement. Make one, make a pair, make a set for the whole family! Worked flat in stockinette stitch from the bottom up in pieces, the front and back are shaped to fit in drop sleeves. Shoulder seams are joined with three-needle bind off, and sleeves are worked flat, seamed up, and fitted in. The collar is then picked up and knit in 2 × 2 ribbing once the sweater is seamed together. Choose your initial or the lucky recipient’s initial to duplicate stitch onto the front.
