Snippet Socks

The Snippet Socks were inspired by interpreting traditional patchwork as contemporary knitting stitch patterns. Knitting and quilting have both been a big part of my creative life for a long time...in fact, the quilts came first! I have a lot of happy memories of working on quilt projects with my family, starting in my early years. That nostalgic, cosy sense of togetherness feels like a natural match for something as wholesome as handknit socks. This sock design is a sister pattern to the [Fragment Socks][1] and shares the same references. The Snippet Socks are knit from the top down, beginning with a simple 1x1 twisted rib cuff which flows into a front panel featuring two textured chevron “snippets” bordered by decorative columns down to the toe. I’ve finished the socks with a heel flap and gusset and a wedge toe, or you can substitute your own favourites if desired. The pattern includes 2 sizes, with fully written instructions in my Percentage Checklist style and charts. The instructions are written for the magic loop method, but you can use DPNs if you prefer.
