Yuletide Monogram Stocking

One of the most charming Christmas traditions is, for me, unboxing the heirloom ornaments and stockings that have been used in our family since before I was born. With a new family member to welcome, I wanted to design a stocking that would fit right in, and be cherished for generations to come. Festive yet classic, it juxtaposes traditional stranded snowflake motifs with a cuff of evergreen garlands and fir trees in a snowy field. Best of all, it saves space for an initial (or another little design of your choosing), for a truly personal touch. The pattern includes a full alphabet of monograms, plus a little flower and some chart space to design your own substitute motif, in case a monogram just isn't your thing. With instructions for finishing the stocking with an i-cord hanger and either a sewn fabric lining, or a simple folded knit facing, this is a stocking destined to be hung by the chimney with care year after year. **Update December 27, 2020** The pattern now includes a set of alternative charts for the leg pattern (as a separate pdf included with purchase of the pattern), as shown in the last two pics here. **Finished Dimensions** 12"/ 30.5 cm circumference. 12"/ 30.5 cm cuff to heel. 11.5"/ 29 cm heel to toe. **Yardage Requirements** Color A (red): 250 yards/ 229 m Color B: 150 yards/ 137 m **Gauge** 32 sts & 33 rows = 4”/ 10cm in Leg Pattern using larger needle. **Tools** US 1.5 (2.5 mm) DPNs or circular needle for magic loop, or one size smaller than needed to obtain gauge.
