I come from an area in the USA with lots of mountains. I have seen the White and Green mountains, the Smokey Mountains and the mountains of Iceland and the Alps. I have seen a lotta mountains. I was not prepared for my first views of the mountains in Japan. I always wondered why Japanese nature art was so different from Western art. Then I saw Japan and understood. The mountains look painted in the distance. Hanging in the clouds, shades of grey and blue and black in the distance. Hints of the shapes, not the all the lines filled in. Amazing. This hat is my knit interpretation. Go see them in real life if you have the chance.
