Sheer V Sweater

Note that while I used a single-ply for my fingering yarn, you can use any fingering yarn that works for you, plied or unplied. Any fingering + lace combination you can get gauge with will work. Also note that the sheerness of the V neck portion of the sweater will vary depending on the content of silk in the mohair blend. If you would like a more sheer V, you will want to look for mohair blends that are 60% mohair and 40% silk. If you would like the V to be more opaque, you will want to look for mohair blends that are either 70% mohair & 30% silk, or 72% mohair and 28% silk. **Mohair recommendations for a more sheer panel:** [Julie Asselin Anatolia][5]: 60% Mohair, 40% Silk ($27.00, 320yds/25g) [Ito Sensai][6]: 60% Mohair, 40% Silk ($16.00, 220 yards/20g) [Purl Soho Tussock][7]: 60% Mohair, 40% Silk ($19.00, 328yds/25g) *To assist in making my designs for financially accessible, I've created a **[spreadsheet of budget yarn options.][8]** You will want to reference the fingering and lace tabs for yarns for this design.* **A Note about Choosing Colors:** If you would like to do a tone on tone version of the sweater, I recommend that you use a mohair that is 60% Mohair 40% Silk in order to be able to see the contrast between the V and the main body. If you use a yarn with a higher mohair content, I suggest at least some contrast in tone between the colors you use, as the V can get lost if the colors are too similar with the fuzzier mohair. **Gauge:** 20 sts & 24 rows in 4”x 4” square on main body needles, blocked **Suggested Needles:** *Tubular Cast On:* US 4 – 3.5mm 16-40” circular needles. This needle should be one size smaller than your ribbing needle. *Ribbing:* US 5 – 3.75mm 16-40” circular needles. This needle should be two sizes smaller than your main body needle. *Cuff Ribbing*: US 6 – 4mm 16-40” circular needles. This needle should be one size smaller than your main body needle. *Main Body*: US 7 – 4.5mm 16-40” circular needles, and preferred small circumference needles for sleeves if not using magic loop Choose a circular needle circumference that is at least several inches shorter than the garment measurement. **Materials:** Fingering weight yarn, mohair yarn, circular needles, stitch markers, scrap yarn or stitch holders, extra needle for 3-needle and tubular bind off, darning needle **Techniques:** knitting in the round, increasing, holding stitches, kitchener stitch, three needle bind off, wet blocking **Special Acknowledgement** I would like to credit [Shay Johnson][9] of Knit & Croshay for the marltarsia technique used in creating the neckline of this sweater.
