The Drucilla Shawl is a multi option pattern. Choose from a triangle or diamond shape and make it in heavy lace, 4ply or DK or even your own handspun yarn. The pattern was originally published in John Arbon Textile's The Annual 1 (some photos are courtesy of John Arbon Textiles. SHAWL SHAPE This pattern can be crocheted as a triangular shawl or a C2C diamond that is doubled over for extra warmth. SHAWL CONSTRUCTION Simple and repetitive row repeat V-stitches mean you can crochet a triangular shawl, increasing the row lengths as you go. If you fancy a warm double thickness shawl, you can crochet Drucilla corner to corner (C2C) to make a crocheted hap style shawl. A simple border is added, either using the same yarn or a contrast colour border. Using a weight percentage system, you can work out how much yarn you need. The border requires up to 10% of the weight of the main body of the shawl. Mindful crochet project that can be made as large or small as you like. TERMINOLOGY This pattern is written in standard UK and US terms. Both patterns are available for download after purchase. YARN This is a multi-yarn pattern that can be made in heavy laceweight, 4 ply OR DK weight yarn - see images for different yarn weight requirements. It is also perfect for using your precious handspun skeins. OTHER MATERIALS Hook: 3mm - 5mm (C2/D3 - H8) depending on yarn weight used Notions: stitch marker (to secure stitch when putting project aside)tapestry needle, blocking equipment PDF PATTERN Drucilla Shawl is an eight-page, A4 document with large, clear text, charts, support images and a QR code linking to relevant photo/ video tutorials. This shawl has been written for two sizes - triangluar and diamond (C2C) - and for two different yarn thicknesses. *Alpaca 2-3ply Version Sample shown is C2C shawl in Sea Spray with same coloured border* **Yarn** Alpaca 2-3 ply (heavy lace; 600m per 100g) Triangular: 1 x 100g skein C2C: 2 x 100g skeins Optional contrast border: 1 x 100g skein **Finished Measurements** Triangular: A - Depth: 60cm / 23.75” B - Two equal sides of: 106cm / 41.75” C2C: D - Depth: 120cm / 47.25” E - Four equal sides of: 106cm / 41.75” C - Wingspan (both versions): 175cm / 69” *See schematic* **Gauge** 7.25 sts x 11 rows = 10cm / 4” measured over main body V-stitch pattern after blocking **Hooks & Notions** 3mm (US C/2 or D/3) crochet hook *Always use a hook which results in the correct gauge after blocking.* Stitch markers *Devonia 4ply Version Sample shown is Triangular shawl in Bleeding Heart, with contrast border in Cinderglow* **Yarn** Devonia (4ply; 388m per 100g) Triangular: 2 x 100g skein C2C: 4 x 100g skeins Optional contrast border: 1 x 100g skein **Finished Measurements** Triangular: A - Depth: 70cm / 27.5” B - Two equal sides of: 125cm / 49.25” C2C: D - Depth: 140cm / 55” E - Four equal sides of: 125cm / 49.25” C - Wingspan (both versions): 212cm / 84” *See schematic* **Gauge** 6 sts x 9 rows = 10cm / 4” measured over main body V-stitch pattern after blocking **Hooks & Notions** 4mm (US G/6) crochet hook *Always use a hook which results in the correct gauge after blocking.* Stitch markers **Pattern Notes** The border will use approximately 10% of the weight of the yarn used for the main body of the shawl. If you plan to crochet your version of Drucilla all in one colour, make sure you stop working the increase section leaving enough yarn for the border. If you make a corner-to-corner (C2C) version of Drucilla, you will use approximately half of your main body yarn on the increase section, then half on the decrease section. It’s best to use slightly less than half on the increase section, to ensure you don’t run out of yarn. [1]: https://www.jarbon.com/the-annual
