The Arcade Shawl pairs a delightfully speckled skein with a high-contrast tonal to create an Art Deco effect reminiscent of stained glass. I’m also reminded of an old-fashioned shopping arcade, where colorful and enticing treasures peek out from behind a line of shop windows. Knit in a lovely, heavy fingering weight from Greenwood Fiberworks, the shawl uses elongated stitches and repeating elements to create a generous size and striking effect. **This pattern contains both fully charted and written instructions. ** **Recommended Yarn:** Greenwood Fiberworks Sublime — 80% superwash merino / 10% cashmere / 10% nylon — 382 yds (349 m) to 115 g. Shawl uses **3 skeins total** — 2 skeins of a tonal Main Color (MC—*Violet*) and 1 skein of a speckled Contrast Color (CC—*Arcade-Speckled*). Total combined yardage is approximately **1,100 yds (1,006 m)**. MC: 735 yds (672 m) CC: 365 yds (334 m) **Sizing:** 69” (175 cm) wide and 32” (81 cm) deep. **Gauge:** 22 sts and 32 rows to 4” (10 cm) in stockinette st and 22 sts and 40 rows to 4” (10 cm) in slip-stitch pattern on larger needle, both blocked. *PLEASE NOTE: Sublime is a heavier fingering weight yarn. I knit my sample on a US 6 (4 mm) needle, but I knit fairly tightly. The pattern is not dependent on gauge, but changes in gauge will affect finished size, look of patterning, and amount of yarn used.
