Sandscape Slipped-Stitch Pullover

Understated, with monochromatic embossed texture and clean lines, Sandscape is a little slice of perfection in its intentional simplicity. Sometimes when I design a sweater, I find myself saying “less is more” over and over in my head as I strip away excess and pare the concept down to the right balance of details. Sandscape required no extra fiddling; the idea arrived in my head almost exactly as you see it here. Slipped stitches against a landscape of stockinette maintain interest without requiring a lot of fuss or concentration. Once you’ve established the slipped-stitch formation, the sweater flows beautifully and easily from the needles. Sandscape is worked flat until neckline shaping is complete, then joined and worked in the round from there. Slipped-stitch details down the front, back and sleeves create an embossed effect against the monochrome of a solid color. The sleeves and neckline are worked last.
