One for the Books

Make your knitting planner special – with this hand knitted book cover! Using a fingering weight yarn this cover will not add too much bulk, it will protect your planner and add some useful pockets for notes and [sticker sheets][1]. Choose a pretty gradient yarn to showcase the unusual diagonal construction. 50 grams of yarn will be sufficient. If you like, you can add a [Strickmich! fabric tag][2] and use it as a pen loop. Knit one for other books, too – it will fit if they are not too thick and have a hard cover. This pattern was designed for [Strickplaner 2018 – your knitting planner][3] which is available in English and German [here][4] and in selected yarn stores. Schoppel Zauberball colorway in the pictures: Indisch Rosa. **Pattern Notes** You start at the upper left corner and knit in the round as for a sock. Continue in rows back and forth until you reach the lower right corner, when you will work in rounds again. The pockets are created during the knitting by strategically placed increases and decreases – there is no seaming, everything is finished once you have worked the last stitches. The cover may look a little skewed, but this will disappear once it has been slipped onto the book. The shape helps the cover to stay in place and not come off on its own – much like a sock for the book! •••••••• Mach deinen [Strickplaner][6] zu etwas ganz Besonderem – mit dieser handgestrickten Buchhülle! Aus einem feinen Garn (maximal Sockenwollstärke) trägt sie kaum auf, schützt deinen Planer und bietet innen extra Platz für Zettel und [Stickerbögen][7]. Wenn du ein Garn mit Farbverlauf wählst, kommt die spezielle schräg gestrickte Konstruktion sehr schön zur Geltung. 50 Gramm Garn reichen dafür völlig aus! Wenn du magst, nähst Du am Schluss noch das [Strickmich!-Etikett][8] an und verwendest es als Stiftschlaufe. Die Hülle kannst du übrigens auch für andere nicht allzu dicke Bücher mit festem Einband stricken. Diese Anleitung wurde für den [Strickplaner 2018][9], einen Buchkalender für Strickerinnen entworfen, der im Strickmich! Shop und bei ausgewählten Händlern erhältlich ist. Farbe des verwendeten Crazy Zauberball-Garns: Indisch Rosa. **Anmerkungen** Man beginnt an der oberen linken Ecke und strickt in der Runde wie bei einer an der Spitze begonnenen Socke mit der Magic-Loop-Technik. Dann geht es in Reihen weiter hin und her, bis die untere rechte Ecke auch wieder in Runden gearbeitet wird. Die Einschübe entstehen einfach während des Strickens durch geschickt platzierte Zu- und Abnahmen – es wird nichts zusammengenäht, alles ist fertig, sobald du die letzten Maschen gestrickt hast. Die Hülle sieht etwas schief aus, aber das verschwindet, sobald du sie auf den Buchumschlag gezogen hast. So sitzt sie stramm auf dem Buch und rutscht nicht ab.
