Every year, I try to create a winter holiday pattern with a Christmas spirit. This year, I have decided to create a new bauble pattern for my Christmas collection. These baubles have a beautiful spiral pattern, which is great for fast-changing colored yarn. The baubles can be used to hang on the tree or to fill a big bowl and decorate the table. It is a fun little project to create when you have less time and want some nice decoration for your home.
**Yarn Requirements:**
To make these baubles, I used a combination of Scheepjes Stonewashed XL, which is available in 50-gram balls with 75 meters of yarn. I also used Scheepjes Stonewashed XL Flow, which is available in 65-gram balls with 97 meters of yarn. Both yarns consist of 65% cotton and 35% acrylic.
The amounts needed for one bauble – which consists of 2 sides- are:
**Color A:** 25 grams (38 meters) of Scheepjes Stonewashed XL in colorway 887 Sodalite. (including combining)
**Color B:** 25 grams (38 meters) of Scheepjes Stonewashed XL Flow in a color of choice. I used five colorways to make the baubles. I used colorways: 04 Reverie, 05 Calm, 07 Bliss, 08 Twilight, and 017 Yuletide.
------------------------------------------------------------
Out of one ball of Scheepjes Stonewashed XL and one ball of Scheepjes Stonewashed Xl Flow you can make two baubles. I made two baubles out of all five used colorways of flow – which means 4 halves.
**Other materials needed:**
I used Styrofoam baubles to fill the bauble, each with a diameter of 10 cm (4 inches). So, you will need one Styropor ball for each bauble you make.
You can also fill the baubles with fiberfill; however, they might not look as round or neat. You need approx. 20 grams of filling for one bauble.
**Crochet hook needed:**
I recommend a 4.5mm hook for the yarn I used.
**Size:** A finished bauble will have a diameter of 10cm /4 inches.
You can always use a different type or weight of yarn. Always take one hook size smaller than the yarn label recommends. Other yarn types will also produce different sizes. When using a different yarn type or weight, first make two half-baubles and measure the diameter to determine which styrofoam ball size you need.
The pattern uses very easy stitch work like sc, hdc, dc, and a fptr. The pattern is written and guided with many, many progress photos. In these photos, I also use a new way of drawing stitches, like the symbols in a crochet chart. In this way, you have a photo and chart to follow in one. See the photo section to see what this might look like.
