Cluster & Crunch Blanket

One of the two main stitches in this pattern is a variation of the half double crochet slip stitch done in a cluster and in the front two loops only which gives a braided ribbon effect every 8-row repeat. The other is achieved by alternating short and tall stitches across the row to form small crunched bobbles. In my sample, I used a Boye hook (5.25 - size I) and completed a 48" x 56" piece using 4-wt worsted yarn. Alternate sizes can be achieved by adjusting starting chain and number of rows completed. Approximately 2900 yards should provide a generous cushion for completion including any border or fringe. Although written as a blanket pattern, the design can easily be adapted to other widths and lengths for projects such as scarves or throw-pillow covers.
