Grecian Acanthus Cowl

Inspired by the rich artistic and cultural heritage of ancient Greece, this knitted cowl was designed as a creative intersection between textile craft and heritage conservation. As museum conservation students in South Africa, we are continually inspired by the historical objects, materials, and stories that connect people across time and space. This is our very first pattern we have created and we are so excited to share it with you! The cowl is worked from the bottom up in the round using two colours of your choice. A chart is included as well as a transcribed version of the chart for those who prefer written patterns over charts. The cowl is worked mainly in stockinette with the exception of the borders which are rows of purls. Instructions and links to videos for the cast on and bind off are included. **Size**: One size fits all (size can be adjusted according to pattern repeat). **Gauge**: 23 stitches by 27 rows in colorwork for 10cm/4" **Materials needed**: (Main Color) Elle Merino DK 014 Ivory; Lot #54413; Code 6217. Each ball is 50g (1.7oz) and 100m (109yds) (Contrast Color) Elle Merino 078 Ravine; Lot #51917; Code 6217. Each ball is 50g (1.7oz) and 100m (109yds) or (Main Color) Elle Merino DK 001 White. Each ball is 50g (1.7oz) and 100m (109yds). (Contrast Color) Elle Merino DK 074 Sage. Each ball is 50g (1.7oz) and 100m (109yds). **Meterage/yardage**: Approx. 150m (164 yds) needed for the main color and approx. 100m (109 yds) needed for the contrast color. **Needles**: 4.00mm (US size 6) interchangeable/circular needles with 60 cm (24”) cable (or longer cable for magic loop).
