Murder Mystery Knitalong 2026

It’s time for Maker Savvy’s and aknitica’s annual Murder Mystery Knitalong event! Inspired by the twists and turns in a good cozy mystery, the pattern this year will give you a cozy fall vibe with elements of texture from classic autumn knitwear. Use some tweed yarn for extra coziness points. One colour is all you need! This is both an in-person event AND an online knitalong. The in-person event takes place in Kanata, Ontario, Canada, and is hosted by Maker Savvy. Join me for a casual book club, where we all read (or watch, or listen to) a good book (or show, or audiobook) and share our thoughts and opinions, our cozy vibes, and pictures of our projects. *This is meant to be a very low-stress knitalong book club, so don't stress if you don't have time to do extra reading or watching!* I've been meaning to dive in to the very-famous mystery series by Canadian writer Louise Penny on which the show Three Pines is based, so I'm going to take this as my excuse to pick up the first book in the series and do a little light reading. Share it with me on Instagram so I can enlarge my list of book recommendations. :smiley: **Dates** The clues will be added to your Ravelry library on October 4th, 14th, 21st, November 4th, 11th, and 18th. **What are we making?** It’s a wearable, stylish accessory to keep your neck and shoulders warm. It’ll look amazing paired with a long cardigan, a dress, or worn over jeans and a tee. You'll be able to dress it up or down, depending on the occasion. The style vibe this year is classic autumn wear – think Aran knits, tweed, texture, sunny walks over crunching golden leaves. Choose one colour that will pair with your favourite outfits. I recommend a rustic tweed yarn for maximum texture, but any fingering-weight yarn will do. **Yarn Requirements** Indigodragonfly’s new Nibbles Sock yarn base is a 2-ply fingering-weight superwash merino with playfully colourful tweed neps. Maker Savvy has collaborated with Kim McBrien Evans of Indigodragonfly to curate a selection of dyed-to-order tweed skeins in colours that will complement the rich textures and patterns in our project. **Sizes:** 1 (2, 3) **To fit:** 30-50 (50-60, 60-70) inch chest-and-arm circumference **Yarn requirements:** 3 (4, 5) skeins of Indigodragonfly Nibbles Sock Yarn (100 g = 400 m / 437 yds each) **Total yardage:** 1200 (1600, 2000) m / 1311 (1748, 2185) yds fingering-weight yarn (#1 superfine) **A Note About Fit:** The MMKAL project isn’t a fitted item, but it can be pulled down over the shoulders in a cozy hug for your upper body. If you want to make sure you have the option to pull it down around you, choose the size that suits your circumference. **Yarn Delivery** If you're joining in from a distance, Maker Savvy will ship anywhere in Canada. **What skill level is required?** Intermediate knitting skills are recommended. Experienced knitters should find enough interest and variety in the clues to keep them engaged. Less-experienced knitters will learn a few new skills, along with tips and tricks to help along the way.
