The comfortable fit makes this hat an everyday favourite! The Minny Hat is knitted from the bottom up. First, the ties and ear flaps are knitted, before the ear flaps are joined by casting on stitches for the back of the neck between them. The back of the neck is knitted back and forth, with increases at each side for a comfortable fit, before stitches are cast on for the forehead. The hat is then knitted in the round in a ribbed pattern, followed by decreases to shape the crown. The hat is finished with i-cord edges at the back of the neck and forehead. Sizes: 3–9 months (1–2) 3–4 (5–8) years. Head circumference: 43–46 (47–50) 51–52 (53–56) cm. Hat circumference: 38 (45) 45 (53) cm. Total length: 24–26 (26–27) 28–29 (29–31) cm, including ear flaps. Gauge: 21 stitches x 30 rows in ribbed pattern (k3, p1), lightly stretched = 10 cm. Suggested needles: 3.5 mm circular needle, 40 cm. 3.5 mm double-pointed needles. 3.5 mm long circular needle if you prefer the magic loop technique.
