Jasmine Christmas Tree Trivet

A cozy Christmas tree trivet crocheted with Jasmine Stitches The trivet is worked from the top down, in rows. You finish with a little trunk and a hanging loop, so it can hang in your kitchen when it's not on the table. You can felt your trivet or leave it unfelted. The Jasmine structure pops a bit more in the unfelted version. The felted version feels thicker and sturdier, with a unique texture of its own. What you get Written instructions (US terms) A detailed step-by-step photo tutorial A video tutorial (coming soon) Felting and blocking instructions Size Unfelted: approx. 30 cm / 11.8 in tall and 25 cm / 9.8 in wide. Size depends on how long you pull your loops and your yarn. The felted trivet will be smaller, depending on how much you felt it. Yarn Non-plied 100% wool that tolerates heat. Avoid acrylic and other synthetic yarns. If you want to felt, use feltable wool (not superwash). Suggested: Drops Snow or Lana Grossa Feltro (50 m / 55 yds per 50 g / 1.8 oz), or a similar chunky / bulky / 12–14 ply yarn. You need 2 skeins of Drops Snow for 1 trivet. 3 skeins will make 2. Hook 4 mm (G-6). Use a hook much thinner than your yarn label recommends. Gauge Unfelted: pull loops to about 2 cm / 0.8 in. Felted: pull loops to about 3 cm / 1.2 in. Loop length decides the gauge and size. Hook size matters less. You also need Scissors, a tape measure and a yarn needle. Pins and a blocking mat if you want to block after felting. Skill level This pattern is for advanced crocheters and crocheters who already know the Jasmine Stitch. If you're new to it, start with a smaller project like the Jasmine Hairband.
