Bille Vest

Bille Vest The Bille Vest is an oversized, playful knitted vest for children, where you can play with color and pick from your stash. The gauge is 11 stitches x 16 rows = 10 x 10 cm and the suggested needle size is 8 mm and 7 mm. If your are using the suggested yarn, you would need 200 (200-250) 250 gr of Snefnug together with 25 (25) 25 gr of Silk Mohair from Isager yarn. The vest is worked from the top down, starting with the back piece. The shoulders are then picked up and worked separately before the front and back are joined under the arms. The body is worked in the round before being divided again to create a slightly longer back and a small side slit. The finishing touch is the beetle embroidered onto the back using duplicate stitch. You can use different colors and yarn scraps to create your own unique beetle. The pattern is written in three sizes: 1–2 years, 2–3 years and 4–6 years and includes instructions for the construction, finishing and a chart for the duplicate-stitch embroidery. The Bille Vest is a great project for using up yarn leftovers and experimenting with color combinations. I especially love pairing a different color or sequin yarn with the ribbing. Happy knitting :)
