Happy Scrappy Bunting

Are you still looking for some decoration for your garden party or the next birthday coming up? I was too but I don't like the look of garter st. So I thought up this pattern, which is **entirely in stockinette st** and thought I would share it with you. You can make any length you want, use up any scraps you have. The instructions are for fingering weight yarn held double or DK weight yarn, but really **you could also make a really tiny fairy bunting with a lace or light fingering weight yarn or a ginormous one using super bulky yarn.** I hope you have fun playing with this idea! **Finished dimensions:** If you use 4ply sock yarn held double, Drops Lima with 100m / 109yards on 50g / 1.76ounces or a similar yarn and 4mm / 6 US needles you will end up with bunting triangles approximately measuring 9,5cm / 3 ¾ inches at the top and 7,5cm / 3 inches from top to tip. **Sizes:** One size but highly customizable as you can vary the length and also size by choosing different yarn weights. **Yarn:** 4ply sock / fingering weight yarn held double, Drops Lima with 100m / 109yards on 50g / 1.76ounces or a similar yarn weight. Really you can make this pattern with any yarn weight you like, it will just change the size of the finished bunting. **Needle:** 4mm / 6 US needles (one long circular needle and 5 dpns) or whatever needle fits your yarn and gauge. **Skill level:** Intermediate **Gauge** 5cm = 9 sts x 17 rows. You should know how to… * knit in the round with a small amount of sts - either with dpns, magic loop, two circular needles or whatever you prefer. * work decreases such as ssk, k2tog and k3tog * cast on provisionally using this method ([Youtube Link][1]) * knit and purl If you know most of these techniques , but are missing one or two: don’t worry, most of these are easily learned from a youtube video or a fellow knitter. This pattern might still be doable for you. **You will need:** * 5 dpns and a long circular needle both in 4mm / 6 US * lots of scraps of similar yarn weight for the triangles and more of a neutral colour for the string bit * a needle to weave in the ends * scissors * some scrap yarn or a long st holder cable for the provisional cast on * Optional: a non elastic string to add into the knitted one for extra stability. This is not mandatory, but the bunting might otherwise stretch a bit over time.
