Spillway Tee

A knitted tee is one of my favorite pieces for those in-between seasons. It’s easy to layer under overalls or a button-down, but also works beautifully on its own when the weather can’t quite decide what season it is. I designed this tee for my trip to Great Falls, Montana, where I was attending the Makers in the Big Sky retreat. It ended up being the perfect piece to wear while wandering around town and enjoying the beautiful autumn weather. The lace motif along the sides was inspired by cascading water, something that both Ohio, my home, and Montana have in abundance. I loved the idea of incorporating a little piece of home into a sweater I designed for my time away. If you are using a handdyed yarn, you may want to include a buffer of 10% since dyelots are more varied, while commercially dyed yarns tend to be more consistent and you may be able to be more conservative with your buffer as you can reorder if you run out. YARDAGE DOES INCLUDE A SWATCH IN MAIN COLOR. Needles: US 5 / 3.75 mm circular needles in 40” / 101 cm cord length for magic loop and/or a variety of cord lengths appropriate for neck, body and sleeve dimensions of desired body size. CONSTRUCTION The tee is worked from the top down. Short rows shape the back neck before the yoke is worked with sloping raglans. The raglan detail continues into the body, where a cascading eyelet motif is mirrored at each underarm and along the sides. The body can be worked cropped or extended to full length. All hems are finished in a contrasting color with 1×1 twisted rib and rolled edges.
