Welcome to the drape tee pattern ♥
We will be knitting a full length tee (or jumper) in the round, from the bottom up. The top is fitted at the hip, and is shaped with increases to include positive ease, for a draped look at the bust and shoulders. Grafting stitch is used at one shoulder to seam the work before beginning the rolled neckline. This garment is intentionally asymmetrical and will be longer than your body. The placement of the waist shaping, armholes, and neckline results in a diagonal fit and drape across the body. This pattern is ideal for knitters of all skill levels. Skills used will be knitting in the round, Grafting stitch / seaming, increases, decreases, and casting on.
This pattern is graded for two different gauges - you can either use 4mm / US 6 OR 6mm / US 10 needles. The written patterns are NOT interchangeable and you must choose which gauge you wish to work in before beginning.
**Sizing**
The pattern is written for 8 sizes. To calculate the size you should make, please take your waist and bust measurements in cm/in and compare to the table below. If you are in between sizes, size down. Larger sizes have more fabric overall, and thus have more give and stretch. If you are knitting sizes 5 - 8, and know you would like a more fitted look, consider sizing down. There is a **Bigger Bust** variation that creates more positive ease (either 8cm or 16cm) around the bust area.
Size 1 fits waist 60 - 68cm, bust 75 - 83cm
Size 2 fits waist 68 - 75cm, bust 83 - 90cm
Size 3 fits waist 75 - 83cm, bust 90 - 98cm
Size 4 fits waist 83 - 90cm, bust 98 - 105cm
Size 5 fits waist 90 - 105cm, bust 105 - 120cm
Size 6 fits waist 105 - 120cm, bust 120 - 135cm
Size 7 fits waist 120 - 135cm, bust 135 - 150cm
Size 8 fits waist 135 - 155cm, bust 150 - 170cm
**Yarn**
This is a great pattern to experiment with different yarn weights and fabric patterning. Because the pattern is worked wholly in the round, it lends itself well to seamless striping and colourwork. Another bonus - striping multiple balls together allows you to work through odd skeins and scraps. Of course, you are more than welcome to knit this in single colour stockinette!
If you are working in 4mm / US 6 gauge, I would recommend using any DK yarn. If you are working in 6mm / US 10 gauge, I think you can go wild! Below are 3 different experiments with yarn weights and textures. For a sleek, cosy look, use aran weight yarn. For a drapey, summery and silky look, used DK or thinner yarn.
Yarn Estimations (calculated assuming you are using a DK weight):
**4mm / US 6 needle size**
meterage: 730 [799] 868 [923] 968 [1151] 1336 [1483]
yardage: 798 [874] 949 [1009] 1059 [1259] 1461 [1621]
**6mm / US 10 needle size**
