No coupon code required.** ###**About the Pattern** The Christmas Joy Scarf is a festive double knit Christmas scarf featuring holiday images and winter scenes that will fill you with the Christmas spirit. It’s a perfect scarf to wear or gift while celebrating the joyful holiday season! Double knit, the scarf is designed for three colors (a main color and two contrasting colors) and is fully reversible, featuring opposite color schemes on each side. It is similar in layout to several of my other MKAL scarves and features eight different Christmas scenes. **Please note that this is not a cat-themed scarf. There is one scene that features cats, but the pattern also includes an optional chart to replace the cats in that scene with dogs. :)** The suggested colors are white, red, and green: white for the main color, red for the first contrast color, and green for the second contrast color. The main color is used throughout the scarf, while the two contrast colors alternate. Feel free to substitute your own merry color combinations or stick with a two-color scarf instead of three. Solid colors will work best due to the alternating color combinations in the design. Instructions are included for the double knitting technique. The finished size of the scarf is approximately 70 inches (178 cm) in length and 5.5 inches (14 cm) in width. The colorwork for the design is chart only, not written instructions. **Yarn** * Approximately 460 yards (421 m) of the main color in fingering weight yarn (white suggested). * Approximately 150 yards (137 m) of the first contrast color in fingering weight yarn (red suggested). * Approximately 315 yards (288 m) of the second contrast color in fingering weight yarn (green suggested). Note: If you prefer to use only two colors for the scarf, you'll need approximately 460 yards (421 m) each of both colors. **Needles** * Size 2 US (2.75 mm) needles for everything except the cast on. * Optional: Size 1 US (2.25 mm) needles for a neater cast on edge. **Notions** * Needle to weave in ends. ###**About the MKAL**### What is a Mystery Knit a Long (MKAL)? An MKAL is when the pattern is broken up into a series of clues or parts. What the final piece looks like is a mystery until all the parts have been received. The Christmas Joy MKAL will begin on October 15 and run for 8 weeks with new clues sent each Thursday. Additionally, participants in the MKAL will be entered into a drawing (read more below). **Schedule** Week 1: October 15 Week 2: October 22 Week 3: October 29 Week 4: November 5 Week 5: November 12 Week 6: November 19 Week 7: November 26 Week 8: December 3 Please note that prior to October 15, you will only receive information about the pattern, such as yarn and gauge, and not the full instructions. The first clue will be sent on October 15 when the MKAL starts, with new clues sent every Thursday. The full pattern will be released at the end of the last week of the MKAL (December 3).
