Kaarna is a warm top-down beanie with a plush triple brim. The slipped-stitch texture resembles the rugged bark of conifer trees. You can adjust the height of the beanie to suit your style.  SIZES 1 (2, 3) **To fit head circumference of:** approx. 20.5 (22–22.75, 23.5)" / 52 cm (56–58, 60) cm.  FINISHED MEASUREMENTS **Circumference:** 17.25 (19.75, 22.25)" / 43.5 (50, 56.5) cm.  **Height:** Approx. 7.75 (8.75, 9.5)" / 20 (22, 24) cm, brim folded (adjustable).  The sample hat (size 2) measures 22 cm in height with folded brim. The height of the folded brim is 4.25" / 11 cm. When flat, the height of the crown of the sample beanie from the top to the rnd where knitting direction changes is 6.75" / 17 cm. The height of the brim from the same rnd to the bind-off edge is 9.75" / 25 cm. The total length of the beanie when laid flat is 16.5" / 42 cm. MATERIALS **Yarn:** Laine x Novita 4ply by Novita (70% Falkland Wool, 15% Bluefaced Leicester, 15% Bluefaced Kerry Hill, 437 yds / 400 m – 100 g), 1 skein in the colourway Sandy Shoreline. Edith by Novita (70% mohair, 30% silk, 229 yds / 225 m – 25 g), 4 balls in the colourway Destiny.  Or approx. 241 (284, 328) yds / 220 (260, 300) m of fingering-weight yarn and 766 (875, 1083) yds / 700 (800, 990) m of lace-weight silk mohair yarn. Four strands of yarn are held together throughout: one strand of fingering-weight yarn and three strands of silk mohair yarn. Alternative yarn suggestions are for example Merino by Knitting for Olive (fingering-weight yarn) and Soft Silk Mohair by Knitting for Olive or Silk Mohair by Tukuwool (lace-weight silk mohair). **Needles:** US 6 / 4 mm  40–48" / 100–120 cm circular needles. Notions: 8 stitch markers. GAUGE 24 sts x 16 rnds to 4" / 10 cm in Slip-Stitch Patt, after blocking. NOTES This top-down beanie is worked in a Slip-Stitch Pattern. Every other stitch is slipped on every other round.  Except for the first few rounds, the increases are worked on the “knit all sts” rounds. The increases are worked using the strands that run between sts. As every other st has been slipped on the previous round, work the increases using the strands that run behind the slipped sts. The measurements given in the pattern are approximate. Try on the hat regularly as you knit and adjust the measurements to suit your own fit and preferences. If the crown feels too loose, use a smaller needle size for the brim. Adjust the length so that the round where the knitting direction changes will be hidden under the folded brim. You can make the beanie close-fitting or taller. Yardage is calculated for a close-fitting hat with a deep folded brim. Please note that a taller version will require more yarn. You can use scrap yarn for the section that will be hidden inside the folded brim.
