Dimma

The Dimma sweater is a relaxed-fitting garment with seamless set-in sleeves. The front has an easy-to-memorise stitch pattern of twisted stitches that creates a mock-cable effect without the need for a cable needle. Small mock-cables frame this central panel and also run at the back of the sweater from shoulder seams towards the hem.    SIZES 1 (2, 3, 4, 5) (6, 7, 8, 9) **Recommended ease:** 8" / 20 cm of positive ease. The sweater is worked by holding one strand of DK-weight yarn and one strand of light fingering-weight yarn together throughout.   You can also work with only one strand of worsted-weight yarn if the gauge is met. You need approx. 430 (470, 520, 570, 610) (670, 720, 780, 820) g of yarn all together but note that this is an estimation as the type of yarn will affect the yardage.   Alternative yarn suggestions for DK-weight yarn are for example Jensen by Isager or Pernilla by Filcolana and for light fingering-weight yarn Alpaca 2 by Isager, Alpakka Følgetråd by Sandnes Garn held double or Alva by Filcolana held double.   **Needles:** US 7 / 4.5 mm circular needles, 16–24" / 40–60 cm for the sleeves and the left front and 32–40" / 80–100 cm for the body. US 4 / 3.5 mm circular needles, 16-24” / 40–60 cm for the neckband, 32–40" / 80–100 cm for the hem and DPNs (or preferred needles for working small circumferences) for the cuffs.   **Notions:** Removable stitch markers, waste yarn or stitch holders.   GAUGE 17 sts x 24 rows to 4" / 10 cm on US 7 / 4.5 mm needles in St St, after blocking. 20 sts x 24 rows to 4" / 10 cm on US 7 / 4.5 mm needles in Twisted Cable Stitch Patt, after blocking.  NOTES The Dimma sweater is worked seamlessly from the top down. The back neck is worked first, increasing to shoulder width. The back piece is then worked towards the underarms and increased to the full width. Front stitches are picked up along the shoulder lines. After shaping the neckline, the fronts are joined and worked flat to the underarms and increased to the full width. The front and back are then joined and the body is worked in the round. The hem is finished with 1 x 1 Rib continuing the small cables to the bind-off edge. Sleeve and neckband stitches are picked up from the body and worked in the round. Sleeves are shaped using short rows.
