Bonfire

The Bonfire cardigan was inspired by cosy evenings and the comforting warmth of gathering around a fire: simple, relaxed moments that invite you to slow down. The name reflects that feeling of warmth and ease, and the textured stitches echo the quiet glow and flicker of a bonfire, making this a cardigan designed to be both comforting to knit and easy to wear. Or approx. 1170 (1290, 1410, 1560, 1710) (1880, 2070, 2280, 2500) yds / 1080 (1190, 1310, 1440, 1580) (1740, 1910, 2100, 2310) m of aran-weight yarn. Alternative yarn suggestions are for example Gilliatt by De Rerum Natura, Håndværksgarn by Hjelholts Uldspinderi, Badana by Rosa Pomar or Heavy Merino by Knitting For Olive.  **Needles:** US 2.5 / 3 mm DPNs or circular needles with a cable suitable for small circumferences (for the cuffs), US 2.5 / 3 mm 32 " / 80 cm circular needles (for the hem and the button band). US 6 / 4 mm DPNs or circular needles with a cable suitable for small circumferences (for the sleeves), US 6 / 4 mm 32 " / 80 cm circular needles (for the body). **Notions:** 12 stitch markers, 4 locking markers, 3 buttons (diameter 0.75" / 2 cm), cable needle, waste yarn, blocking tools (optional). GAUGE 18 sts and 26 rows to 4" / 10 cm on US 6 / 4 mm in Moss St, after blocking. 23 sts and 26 rows to 4" / 10 cm on US 6 / 4 mm needles in Main Chart Patt, after blocking. NOTES The cardigan has a relaxed fit with dropped shoulders and is knitted seamlessly from the top down. It begins at the back neck, where stitches are cast on and increased to shape the full width of the back. Stitches are picked up along the sloped shoulders to form the fronts. The front and back pieces are joined at the underarm, and the body is worked in one piece. Sleeve stitches are picked up from the armholes and knitted in the round. A cable and bobble pattern runs throughout the cardigan, creating rich texture while remaining easier to knit than it may  appear. Both the body and sleeve lengths are easily adjustable: try the cardigan on as you go to achieve the perfect length for you. Lastly, button band stitches are picked up from the front and worked in double knitting for a sturdy and polished finish.
