The Acorn Hat

The Acorn Hat is a beanie knitted top down, stockinette in the round and has a rolled brim and i-cord detail perfect for autumnal forest frolicking. For the top i-cord detail, you have the option to have a short stem or a loop. The sizes for the Acorn hat range from Baby up to Adult Large, with negative ease of approximately 2-6cm [0.8-2.4 inches]. This hat is intended to have a snug fit with a dense fabric that holds its shape, so there are a few things to consider when choosing your size and yarn, and when making any adjustments. To find the best size, measure your head circumference (or the recipient’s) and refer to size recommendations below. If your measurement is between sizes, adult sizes should round down to ensure the intended snug fit is achieved; for child and baby wearers, less negative ease is advised; therefore, it is best to round up (they’ll grow!) When substituting yarn, bear in mind that the loop and the roll require a tight, dense knit that holds shape in order to look their best. So it is best to avoid airy, drapey yarn or yarn that may stretch out. BUT by all means, experiment!
