London Fog Socks

This pattern will be available on Saturday 12th September 2026 The London Fog Socks are part of the Elevensies collection: 12 pairs of cosy, handknit socks inspired by those lovely moments when we can curl up with a hot drink and tasty treat. While away a few minutes with fingers wrapped around a warm mug, sample some delectable goodies, and embrace the wonderful feeling of beautiful, handcrafted socks which elevate those perfect little pockets of time into a cosy adventure. The London Fog Socks draw inspiration from the drink of the same name; a London fog is a delicious, warming brew of Earl Grey tea and steamed milk, often with a little bit of vanilla syrup for a splash of sweetness. The lovely notes of citrusy bergamot in the tea are balanced by the sweet, creamy flavours in the latte and the result is a comforting treat. This design evokes the architectural details of London while the stitch motif trails down the sock like tendrils of fog…or perhaps steam from a latte! The London Fog Socks are knit top down in the round with a half twisted rib for the cuff and a pattern that trails down the leg into the foot. The construction includes a traditional heel flap and gusset and the cuff, heel and toe are knit in a contrast colour. The pattern is fully written out, line by line, and therefore suitable for a confident beginner. Experienced knitters can also enjoy ticking off each round as they knit; I've done all the counting for you! **Yarn:** Fingering Weight/4 ply. Sample uses The Camel’s Yarn Standard Sock yarn, 75% superwash merino, 25% nylon, in colourway Fossil Hunter as the Main Colour (100g/425m/465 yds per skein). Contrast yarn for cuff, heel and toe is undyed, 75% superwash merino, 25% nylon (100g/425m/465 yds per skein). Actual amounts used for sample: 17g of contrast colour, 49g of main colour for size medium. Meterage may vary depending on your yarn, tension, size, and finished sock length. **Needles:** 2.25mm needles (or US size 1). These socks can be knit on the needles of your choice, whether that be dpns, two circulars, a small circular or using the magic loop method. **Gauge:** 34 stitches, 48 rows per 10cm stockinette in the round after blocking **Sizes:** Small, Medium, Large Blocked sock circumference measures: S: 17cm / 6¾ inches M: 19cm / 7½ inches L: 21cm / 8¼ inches To fit foot circumference: S: 19cm / 7½ inches M: 22cm / 8½ inches L: 25cm / 9¾ inches The length of the foot is customisable. **Notions:** Tapestry needle Stitch Markers x 4
