This scarf began with a desire to honor the pride and care once given to handmade objects like the embroidered linens and knitted treasures intended to last for generations. We wanted to create something with that same sense of permanence. A piece that you might imagine in the world of the most exclusive accessories, yet something that can only truly be created by hand. We began by painting the colorwork exploring how the pattern would move across the fabric. Double knitting with its two-sided construction creates a beautifully reversible fabric with the colors appearing in opposite on each side. When the scarf is tied, folded or draped, the contrast reveals itself almost like a small piece of textile architecture. Wrap it around your neck, tie it to a handbag, wear it around your waist and let it become the finishing detail that quietly transforms an outfit. Because the pattern uses relatively little yarn, this is a wonderful opportunity to choose something truly special.
