Trabbi

Klein, unkompliziert und zuverlässig – läuft und läuft und läuft. Trabbi kommt mit einem Rapport über gerade einmal zwei Maschen aus. Rechte und linke Maschen geben ihm seine klare, grafische Struktur – Trabi-Trabbi, Runde für Runde. Und der Name? Im Osten eher Trabi, im Westen häufig Trabbi – ich habe mich für die Variante mit Doppel-b entschieden. Eine Marotte darf natürlich nicht fehlen: Runde 11 ist tatsächlich schon wieder eine linke Runde. Nicht korrigieren – das muss so, denn nur dadurch entsteht die Symmetrie. Anschlagen, losstricken und einfach weiter tuckern. *********************************************************** Small, simple and reliable – it just keeps going and going and going. Trabbi uses a repeat of just two stitches. Knit and purl stitches give it its clean, graphic texture – Trabi-Trabbi, round after round.* And the name? In East Germany, Trabi was the more common spelling, while in West Germany you would often see Trabbi*. I chose the version with the double *b*. And of course, every Trabbi needs its own little quirk: Round 11 really is another purl round. Don’t correct it – it’s meant to be that way, as this is what creates the symmetry. Cast on, start knitting and just keep your Trabbi chugging along.
