Ventana Cowl

The Ventana Cowl evokes the splendor of California Condors soaring over the mountains and coast. The Ventana Wilderness, part of the Los Padres National Forest along the Central Coast of California, has been repopulated with condors by the Ventana Wildlife Society. The cowl is worked in one piece. Beginning with a cast on of 3 stitches, increases and decreases are worked to form the body of the cowl. Applied I-cord edging binds off the live stitches. The cowl is finished by seaming the two short diagonal edges together. **Finished Measurements** Height (from top of cowl to bottom corner, see diagram page 4): 24" / 61 cm Neck Circumference: 29" / 73.5 cm **Yarn** Harrisville Designs WATERshed, 100% Pure Virgin Wool (110 yards / 50 g), 5 hanks (approx 511 yds / 467 m). Shown in Driftwood **Needles** US 6 / 4 mm circular needles **Gauge** Approx 21 sts and 30 rows in 4" / 10 cm over "mountain" twisted stitch pattern. Gauge is important.
