Eyelet of Newt Socks

A little bit of magic, a little bit of mischief, and one curious ingredient from a witch’s brew. Eyelet of Newt was designed in collaboration with Brickhouse Fiber Arts, inspired by their Sanderson Sisters sock set. Drawing from one of the classic ingredients of a witch’s brew, the eye of newt. This design puts a playful spin on the name with a pattern filled with delicate eyelets. Worked cuff-down, these socks combine a classic ribbed cuff with an eyelet and faux-cable motif that creates a textured, dimensional design without the need for traditional cable work. The pattern continues down the leg and instep, paired with a heel flap and gusset and finished with a wedge toe. The pattern is considered intermediate and is a great project for knitters looking to combine lace-inspired eyelets with simple faux-cable techniques. All three sizes are designed to be worked from one 100 g skein of main-color yarn and one 20 g contrast-color mini skein. For the Large size, I recommend either knitting the cuff in the main color rather than the contrast color or having an additional contrast-color mini skein available.
