The French Braid socks are part of the collection of the same name, inspired by the French braid motif that is present in all the designs. They are worked toe-up, starting with a Turkish cast-on. The toe is worked in stockinette stitch. Next, the foot combines a sole in stockinette stitch with the top of the foot decorated with the French braid motif. The pattern includes a heel with a reinforced flap, worked flat and built in three stages: first the gusset is formed with increases worked on the sole in a particular way that will result in a triangle; then the heel is turned with German short rows; and finally, the flap is worked with the French braid motif again. Once the heel is finished, the leg is worked in the round, continuing the French braid motif from the top of the foot around the whole leg. Finally, it is finished with a stretchy bind-off that provides the necessary ease for a comfortable fit.
