The construction is top-down, beginning with a cast on of the stitches for the back. The shoulders are shaped with short rows and the back is worked back and forth down to the underarm. The front shoulder sts are picked up from the back and the front is also worked back and forth down to the underarm with shoulder and neck shaping. Once there, the back and front are joined in the round. Sleeve stitches are picked up and worked in the round.
