Foodie Oven Mitts

**General Information** The mitts are knit from bottom to top in the round using *double pointed needles*. You first knit the wrist part and then start increasing for the thumb gusset until 2/3 of the length. Then you split the gusset from the rest and finish the main part with decreases. The thumb is knitted afterwards. **Choose out of 8 different food motifs** and *duplicate stitch* them before felting. The mitts are felted in the *washing machine*. **Material:** felting wool (100% wool, for example hobbii Snowstorm or DROPS Snow) ca. 250g/ 250m for two mitts (including the gauge swatch) and one ball of each duplicate stitch color; 8 mm double pointed needles; mending needle; scissors; washing machine **Gauge:** 13 st x 17 rows = 10 cm x 10 cm (4″ x 4″) in stockinette stitch on 8 mm needles knitted in the round (without blocking, pre felting) **Size before felting:** 40 cm (15,7″) length, 15 cm (5,9″) width **Size after felting:** 30 cm (11,8″) length, 13,5 cm (5,3″) width **Time:** around 4 hrs knitting and 4 hrs duplicate stitching per mitt **Level:** Advanced Beginners **Skills used:** Knitting in the round with double pointed needles Stockinette stitch M1L / M1R increases K2tog / SSK decreases Picking up stitches Duplicate stitch **Safety first – please read before purchase:** These oven mitts are designed as decorative home kitchen accessories for light domestic use only (e.g. holding warm pot handles briefly).
