Distitch Sock

[Distitch](/patterns/sources/distitch-a-new-knitting-concept) (DS) by Assia Brill is a technique where the loop of each stitch is knit twice, creating a denser fabric. Perfect for reinforcing socks! The book is needed for instructions such converting to/from stockinette and Distitch, and the kDS, pDS, k2togDS, and sskDS stitches. If you only want the helical stripes/cable pattern, the heel flap can be swapped out with your stitch pattern of choice. There are two options with separate PDFs: 1. Distitch (heel flap) on the heel flap only. (purple/grey sample, size 72 sts) 2. Distitch (heel and toe) on the heel flap, heel turn, parts of the sole, and toe. (white/multicolor sample, size 56 sts). The size US 4 needle is only needed for this version. Design/Techniques: * Helical stripes * Slipped stitches + cables * Top-down with a heel flap and rounded toe Gauge: * Stockinette: 34 sts = 4”, 48 rows = 4” * Distitch heel flap: 32 sts = 4”, 58 rows (in the knit column) = 4” * Distitch: 29 sts = 4”, 60 rows = 4” Yarn: * Size 72 st sample (heel flap only) used Regia 4-ply MC (42g) in purple and Drops Fabel CC (34g) in grey for a pair. Approx 365 yards. * Size 56 st sample (heel and toe) used Drops Fabel MC (42g) in white and Drops Fabel Print CC (34g) multi-color orange/pink for a pair. Approx 295 yards.
