Hopeful Hat

This hat is knit in the round starting with 1x1 ribbing on the brim. Continue knitting the body of the hat in stockinette stitch. Then simple decreases are used to narrow the hat towards the top. Kitchener stitch is used to finished the top of the hat and provide a sturdy surface to attach a pom pom if so desired. The hat can be knit using the Magic Loop method with circular needles or DPNs. Mine was blocked over a balloon, but another blocking method can be used. Once the hat is blocked, duplicate stitch is used to make the motif on the hat. A link is provided on the pattern for a video tutorial on how to do duplicate stitch. A chart for the motif is included on the pattern. I designed and knit this hat to send a message of hope. Don't we all need some hope? Knit a hat and give some hope to someone.
