*Inspired by the 1844 song, “Over the River and Through the Wood”, the Through the Wood Mittens are a fun colorwork project that is perfect for intermediate knitters who are comfortable with stranded knitting, catching floats, and reading charts. A full video tutorial is included with the pattern. The mittens are worked bottom up on 2.75 mm / US 2 needles with two contrasting colors of fingering-weight merino. This is the perfect stash buster for single skeins!* This pattern also comes with a full video tutorial. **SIZES:** One size (Women’s Medium). **FINISHED MEASUREMENTS:** Cuff circumference: 5” / 12.7 cm Cuff length: 3.5” / 8.75 cm Mitten height from tip to cuff: 7” / 17.75 cm Mitten hand circumference: 6.5” / 16.5 cm **GAUGE:** 10 sts x 10 rnds = 1 x 1” / 2.5 x 2.5 cm on 2.75 mm / US2 needles in Stockinette stitch and stranded colorwork, after blocking. **NEEDLES:** 2.75 mm / US2 circular needles 23 cm / 9” (or longer ones for Magic Loop technique), and 2.75 mm / US2 double-pointed needles for hand shaping and thumb if you’re not using Magic Loop technique. **SAMPLE KNITTED WITH YARN:** Green and white sample: 50 g Knitting for Olive Merino (100% merino - 250 m / 273 yds / 50 g) in colors Dusty Sea Green and Snowflake.
