도안 상세 설명 구글번역기로 번역하기
**The Mantle of Navarre** is a long, warm coat knitted in rustic Icelandic wool and created in memory of **Graziana Barrenetxea**, a woman from Zugarramurdi in Navarre who became a victim of the Basque witch persecutions of 1609–1610. She died in prison in Logroño before a final sentence was pronounced.
The design was inspired by an old Basque door and incorporates elements of traditional Basque visual culture. The **Lauburu** takes a central place in the design. On the two pockets, the symbols turn in opposite directions and towards one another, representing the movement between past and present, life and death, disappearance and remembrance.
The coat is knitted seamlessly in the round from the bottom up and shaped at the waist. The body and sleeves are joined for a circular yoke, with German short rows raising the back. A steek is used at the centre front and cut after knitting. Button bands are added afterwards, and all edges are finished with a simple crocheted border.
The geometric motifs and Lauburu are **duplicate stitched after knitting with a finer yarn**, allowing the motifs to remain crisp against the texture of the rustic wool. The pattern is available in **three sizes: S, M and L**.
This pattern is part of **MICCA – In Words and Threads**, a collection dedicated to people persecuted and executed for witchcraft. Each design carries the name and story of one victim, bringing a name that might otherwise have disappeared back into our collective memory.
**The pattern is free.**
