The Bag Charm Scarf

This is a pointelle mini scarf intended to be used around the handle of a bag for decoration. It can either be knit with a horizontal opening to loop the scarf through or just as a long scarf that you can tie. It is designed to be knit with a plant-based fibre and can be a great scrap project to match your summer garment. The scarf is knit end to end with a built in i-cord, including an i-cord bind on and cast off. It has been tested with yarn weights from fingering held double all the way up to worsted, on a US 6 (4mm) needle. There are two versions of the scarf. Version 1 has a opening, allowing you to loop the scarf around the handle of your bag and through the opening. Version 2 is longer and is meant to be tied around the handle. Pattern includes both charted and written instructions. Difficulty level: Intermediate Final scarf dimensions V1: 21"(53cm) x 3.5”(9cm) Final scarf dimensions V2: 30"(76cm) x 3.5"(9cm) Gauge: 5 stitches x 8 rows on a 4mm (US 6) needle for 1"x 1" (2.5cm x 2.5cm) Needles: 4mm (US 6) or whichever needle you need to achieve the drape you’re looking for. Yarn weight: Fingering held double up to worsted weight. The pink sample is knit in Knitting for Olive pure silk held double on 4mm (US 6) needles.The grey sample is knit in Sandnes Garn Tynn Line held double with a strand of Rico Make it Perlchen and the green sample is Estelle Lincott with a strand of Rico Make it Perlchen. All samples are knit on a 4mm (US 6) needle. It can be knit at a different gauge depending on the scraps you have available, it will just result in a narrower or wider scarf. If you are using a heavier gauge I would recommend sizing up your needles as well, a looser gauge tends to roll less. Suggested yarn: (25g for V1 or TBD for V2) Knitting for Olive Pure Silk (50g=250m), held double. Or (30g for V1 or TBD for V2) Sandness Garn Tynn Line (50g=220m). Most combinations of two light fingering or fingering weight yarns will work, I recommend a lighter summer fibre to achieve a nice drape.
