Medieval Tiles

Inspired by geometric patterns and how they fit together; I love looking at the floors of old churches and other ancient buildings. The octagon and square combinations were the inspiration for this cowl. This design highlights the slight colour variations in the tonal yarns. The cowl is worked from the bottom up, on circular needles, using a chart rather than written design instructions. Knitted using Malabrigo Rios worsted weight yarn in natural or undyed, and a contrasting colour, this is another opportunity for you to develop your colourwork skills. Medieval Tiles would also work well with a skein of your favourite hand dyed yarn, and some undyed yarn in a contrasting colour. You will need 65g DK for the main colour, and approx 45g for the contrast colour. The cowl is worked on 4mm/40-50cm circular needles.
