The Song of Stars

Over the last several years I have become acquainted with the music of Joe Hisaishi. He is well known for composing much of the music for Studio Ghibli. As a pianist, I have thoroughly enjoyed playing many of his songs. This design takes its inspiration from his song, “The Song of Stars”. However, as I worked on this design I dove down a deep rabbit hole of other songs inspired by stars (as well as the sun, moon, and universe) and had a fabulous time doing this. Therefore, included with each part of this pattern (including the intro) I will include a music list, as well as a link to my Spotify playlist. Each playlist that I share will be for a different genre of music. *(Note: you can get a free account on Spotify, and of course you're welcome to listen to music on any platform you like!)* This sock will be a mystery knit in the [Sock Knitters Anonymous](/groups/sock-knitters-anonymous) group during the months of September and October 2026. The pattern will come in four parts which will be released on: September 1 September 8 September 15 September 22 The pattern is written (and tested) for four sizes, 7", 8", 9", 10" circumference when knit to gauge. There are directions in the pattern for adjusting for foot length and leg length. Unless you are knitting these for very large feet, you should be able to knit the pair out of 100 gms of fingering weight sock yarn. Sample was knit with Knit Picks Stroll. The pattern is best suited to solid, semi-solid, or tonal yarns. A gradient yarn might work well too. It's probably best to avoid strongly variegated yarns.
