Mousse Baby Vest

An open-front sleeveless baby vest worked flat in moss stitch, sized 0–3 months to 24 months. The body is worked in one piece to the underarms, then divided for fronts and back and joined at the shoulders with mattress stitch. I-cord ties at the front opening keep the fit adjustable as the baby grows. Every step is supported by detailed process photographs, including shoulder seaming and how to tell RS from WS in moss stitch. Worked in DK weight yarn on 4.5 mm needles, with 3.5 mm double-pointed needles for the i-cord ties. Advanced beginner: if you can knit and purl, you are ready. Techniques used: cast on, knit, purl, moss stitch, M1R, M1L, k2tog, ssk, i-cord, mattress stitch seam, bind off. Safety note: this vest closes with knitted i-cord ties.
