Garden Cardigan

This is the intermediate level PDF crochet pattern for the Garden cardigan. The pattern is written in English and in US terminology. The Garden cardigan is a joyful and whimsical cardigan that is perfect for wearing outside in the garden, while hiking, to work, to school or while crocheting. The pattern is built around graphs as well as written instructions for the sizes XS-5XL. It includes detailed instructions and pictures for the different techniques used and explains how to read the graphs for the colourwork. The cardigan is made from two front panels and one back panel that are crocheted from the top down (so the length is adjustable). The sleeves, the collar, the button band and arm cuffs are then crocheted onto the connected panels. The pattern uses mostly half double crochet as well as single crochet and slip stitches. The pattern also comes with a lookbook of my testers’ beautiful versions of the cardigan. The pattern is graded for sizes XS-5XL. The sizes thereby correspond to chest sizes 71-156 cm or 28-62 inches. The cardigan has between 17-26 cm (6.7-10.2”) of positive ease around the widest part of the chest depending on what size you choose. The gauge for the pattern in half double crochet stitches is 16 stitches x 12 rows (10x10 cm or 4x4 inches). If you don’t know how to make a gauge swatch, this is explained in the pattern. The materials needed are: 4 mm crochet hook (or hook size to meet the gauge) Yarn - For a denser cardigan: light Aran weight yarn (weight 4). Suggestion: Léttlopi by Ístex - For a lighter cardigan: DK weight yarn (weight 3). Suggestions: Double Sunday by Sandnes Garn, DROPS Daisy - Colours: My sample cardigan is made using Léttlopi by Ístex. I used the ten colours listed below. If you would like to use less colours, you can for example use one green colour for all leaves instead of three, make more carrots instead of parsnips, and orange pumpkins and paprikas instead of yellow ones.
