Plaid Pop

Pattern is free with kit purchase; kits available from [The Plucky Knitter][1]. This little scarf is our take on a knitted plaid tie and we think it is just the thing to ease you into fall knitting. It’s a simple striped bias scarf finished with crochet slip-stitch details. A little effort, your favorite colors, a few (!) ends to weave in and you have a versatile piece—wrap it around your neck or wrist, or tie it to your bag. Worth it! **Finished Measurements** 3.5" / 9 cm wide straight across (5" / 12.5 cm on the bias) x 50" / 127 cm long, measured at the center. **Yarn** Sport- or DK-weight yarn, or the equivalent, to knit at a worsted-weight gauge: MC: 120 yds / 110 m CC1: 50 yds / 46 m CC2: 50 yds / 46 m Shown in Plucky Knitter Plush DK (80% superwash U.S. merino, 20% cash-style nylon; 245 yards / 224 m per 100 g): 1 skein each in colors Starlet (MC), Ogre (CC1), and Lake Effect (CC2) Also shown in Plucky Knitter Pippi Fingering (95% superwash extra-fine brushed merino, 5% nylon; 450 yds / 411 m per 105 g): 1 skein each in colors In A Jif (MC), Twill (CC1), and Bling It On (CC2) Other Plucky bases to try include Legacy Sport or DK, Primo DK, or Spiffy Sport. **Needles** US 6 (4 mm) needle, or size needed for gauge Size F/5 (3.75 mm) crochet hook, or one size smaller than gauge needle **Notions** Tapestry needle **Gauge** Approx. 18 sts / 26 rounds = 4” / 10 cm in stockinette stitch on the bias, blocked. **Notes** * Scarf is knit in bias stockinette, increasing at the beginning of each RS row and decreasing at the end of each RS row. * Plaid pattern is created with knitted stripes and purl stitch columns throughout. Once scarf is knit, return to each purl stitch column and crochet contrast color slip stitches along each column using a crochet hook. * While swatching is not strictly necessary, watch your gauge if you are substituting yarns.
