Homesick Pillow

The Homesick Pillow is inspired by traditional American schoolhouse quilt blocks. It has a knit front with a sewn fabric backing and is stuffed with polyfill or yarn/fabric scraps. Colorwork is done using both intarsia and stranded techniques. Roof is worked in garter stitch. This pattern is untested and available for free. Please send feedback about any errors you may find and I will update the pattern accordingly. Thank you! YARNS Yarn quantities provided are for worsted weight yarns but this is a great scrap yarn project and you can use any weight you like. A thicker yarn will result in a larger pillow and you will likely need to adjust yarn quantities. This sample has been knit in the following yarns: Color A (red): 15g Sandnes Garn Alpakka Ull in Red (Similar color: Cascade 220 Superwash Merino in Cherry) Color B (green): 20g Cascade 220 Superwash in Verdant Green Color C (brown): 7g Cascade 220 Superwash Merino in Tapenade Color D (yellow): 3g Cascade 220 Superwash Merino in Shadow Green Color E (blue): 10g Cascade 220 Superwash in Denim Blue FABRIC BACKING 1 fat quarter of woven fabric or any length of fabric that is 1/2 inch larger than the finished knit front piece on all sides. An old pair of jeans was used for the sample. NEEDLES Use recommended needle size for your chosen yarn. The sample was knit using US 7 needles. For a denser fabric, size down one needle size. GAUGE Gauge is not important for this project.
