Internship bag

Internship bag is a felted tote/messenger bag, knitted on 6 mm needles in 100% wool and then felted in the washing machine. Finished and felted bag measures 33x22x17 cm, the strap is 78x11,5 cm. Suitable for everyday use, fits a laptop, books, water bottle and your knitting project. The bag is begun by knitting the bottom panel, then the right and left side are both worked by picking up stitches in the bottom. The strap is worked together with the respective sides. The front and back are likewise worked by picking up stitches in the bottom, as well as through the sides to attach as you go. The lid is worked together with the back. Lastly the strap is sewn or crochet together in one short middle seam before felting in the washing machine. Gauge swatch should be 8.5cm x 7.5 cm when felted. Pattern requires 7 skeins Rauma Vams OR 7 skeins Sandnes garn fritidsgarn. Yarn alternatives: All yarn in 100% wool (non-superwash) meeting gauge will work. Do note that even when meeting gauge, the thickness of your knitting will affect how it felts. Thinner yarn will felt more = the bag will shrink more, and the other way around with thicker yarn. Try to match both gauge and the meters/grams of the yarn to the recommended yarns. For optimal results, felt a trial swatch. You may be able to felt down a thicker yarn to the same bag size, only that the fabric will be thicker.
