This scarf is a simple knit, but a fun one—and it only takes a single skein to make it! Choose your favorite soft sock yarn and go with it! The drippiness lends well to weird colors, but they’re not required. Drippy Scarf combines my bias knit/top down combination triangle shawl approach with a modified picot bindoff. It’s a solid minimalist project in terms of materials. You’ll only need a single long circular needle (used to knit flat, but over occasionally long, shawl-style stitch counts), a little less than a whole skein of Malabrigo Yarn Sock, and a tapestry needle for finishing. **Materials:** * 80g/352 yards of Malabrigo Yarn Sock; sample shown in Frank Ochre * 1 40”+ circular needle in US 5/3.75mm, or size needed for gauge * tapestry needle for weaving in ends * removable stitch markers—optional, but nice to have to easily keep track of progress/stitch counts. **Gauge:** Gauge is 24 sts and 28 rows over 4"/10cm of garter stitch, worked in flat and blocked. Please be sure to check your gauge. **Measurements:** As shown, this scarf measures 72"/1.8m long and about 9"/23cm wide at its widest, excluding fringe. (It’s about 10"/25cm wide with the fringe.) > Get a free draft/informal copy of the > Drippy Scarf pattern through 9am > Thursday, August 6th, 2026! When this promo expires, the pattern will be available for a small fee, which supports this design and future ones like it. Also, check out the work of [mrvelocipede][1], who was my first exposure to long picots as a concept! (My long picots are less interesting, actually, but I frankly don’t get enough opportunities to cite this designer, so I’m still going to.) [1]: https://www.ravelry.com/designers/morgen-bell
