*Huurre* is a modern cable vest designed for layering. The fabric combines plump cables with panels of slipped-stitch rib for depth and texture. A mock turtleneck, button closures at the sides and a slightly longer back panel create a contemporary silhouette with practical details. Huurre  (“frost” in Finnish) is an easy layering piece, something warm and comforting to wrap up in when the temperature drops. The cables stand out like soft snowbanks, broken up by crisp rib details. SIZES 1 (2, 3, 4, 5) (6, 7, 8, 9, 10) **Recommended ease:** 4–6" / 10–15 cm of positive ease. MATERIALS **Yarn:** 3 (4, 4, 4, 5) (6, 6, 6, 7, 7) balls of Gilliatt by De Rerum Natura (100% French Merino d’ Arles and Portuguese Merino wool, 273 yds / 250 m – 100 g), in the colourway Cacao. Or 805 (890, 980, 1080, 1290) (1410, 1520, 1610, 1705, 1805) yds / 735 (815, 895, 985, 1180) (1290, 1390, 1470, 1560, 1650) m of similar DK or worsted-weight yarn.   Alternative yarn suggestions are for example Cascade 220 by Cascade Yarns, Peer Gynt by Sandnes Garn and Drops Nepal by Garnstudio.  **Needles:** US 6 / 4 mm circular needles (in preferred length for neckband), US 7 / 4.5 mm circular needles (in preferred length for body).  **Notions:** Cable needle, locking stitch markers, tapestry needle, 6 buttons (22 mm in diameter). GAUGE  25 sts x 30 rows to 4" / 10 cm on US 7 / 4.5 mm needles in Cable Patt, after blocking.  Note! Make sure to include at least 2 cables in your gauge swatch to get an accurate result. 22 sts x 30 rows to 4" / 10 cm on US 7 / 4.5 mm needles in Slipped-Stitch Rib, after blocking. 20 sts x 28 rows to 4" / 10 cm on US 6 / 4 mm needles in 1 x 1 Rib, after blocking.  NOTES The vest is worked flat from the top down. It begins with the back, which is finished completely before picking up stitches for the neckline. The neckline is shaped one side at a time and continued to the fronts separately. The fronts are then joined to work the rest of the front in one piece. The front hem ribbing is 1" / 2.5 cm shorter than the back hem ribbing, creating a high-low effect. The i-cord armhole edgings are worked simultaneously with the main body, minimising finishing work, with buttonholes are worked at both sides of the front piece. Finally, stitches are picked up for the neckline, and the neck ribbing is worked in the round, in 1 x 1 Rib.
