**The Year of Hats is back, this time featuring our latest yarn in the Germantown line, [Germantown DK][1]!** The Year of DK Hats will feature 12 free patterns using our favorite knitting techniques. August's design is Prospero by our very own Kate Gagnon Osborn. The charts in this hat are absolutely addictive! Finish one hat and we guarantee you'll want to knit another. [Buy a kit][2] from our site or ask for it at your LYS! **Worthy of Note** This lovely, gansey-inspired hat is worked in the round from the bottom up. It begins with a provisional cast on, then a deep folded brim is worked in a K1, P1 Ribbing. After the brim is complete, the body and crown of the hat are worked in a texture pattern from charts. As always, a custom leather tag completes the look! **Specifications YARN** Kelbourne Woolens Germantown DK (100% wool; 270 yds/100 gm skein): 295 cream, 1 skein. **GAUGE** 22 sts and 32 rnds = 4" (10 cm) in Body Chart pattern on larger ndls, after blocking. **NEEDLES** 1 – 16” (40 cm) US 4 (3.50 mm) circular. 1 – 16” (40 cm) US 6 (4 mm) circular. 1 – set US 6 (4 mm) DPNs.
