The Scrappy Bandana

**READ DESCRIPTION!** The Scrappy Bandana is an intermediate colorwork design. This pattern uses two different yarn weights to create see-through polka dots in this scrappy, scraggly bandana design! It probably won’t be your most ‘perfect’ looking knit, due to the differing yarn weights, but it is such a fun project to knit up! Includes written pattern instructions & knitting charts to follow if you prefer. **GAUGE RANGE:** 4" = 20-22 sts / 24-26 rows **NEEDLE SIZE RANGE:** US 5 - 7 (3.75 - 4.5mm) **YARN:** ★ DK - Worsted weight yarn ★ Cobweb/ultra-fine - Lace weight yarn This project can be knit with many different yarn types, but different fibers means various outcomes! If you want a more lightweight, thin, drapey style bandana - stick to cottons, linens, silks, etc. Using fibers like wool, mohair, or alpaca creates a warmer, more dense headscarf/shawl. With any yarn you use, knitting with the 2 different yarn weights will create the see-through polka dots!! **CONSTRUCTION/METHODS USED:** The Scrappy Bandana is worked flat, from tip to tip, in stockinette stitch. An i-cord tab cast on is used to create the seamless transition into the i-cord edge that is worked while knitting! The first half of the pattern consists of increasing on one side of the bandana, with symmetrical decreases used for the second half of the bandana (increases/decreases occur on both knit & purl rows). There are 2 ways to knit the scrappy bandana: 1. DK/Worsted & Lace Yarn Held Together - You can carry your lace weight yarn held together with your dk/worsted weight yarn throughout the entire project. During the colorwork sections, you will only need separate balls of yarn/yarn bobbins for the dk/worsted weight sections (like intarsia) while the lace yarn is one consistent strand throughout. 2. Intarsia - You can work it just like you would regular intarsia, having each polka dot also be its own strand of lace weight yarn! ✴︎ This pattern has not been professionally tech edited.
